Bologna: Famous And Wonderful City of art



City rich in history and projected into the future, Bologna is known for a great deal of cultural and social initiatives, for the dynamic blend of modernity and tradition. There are many different aspects in Bologna; all of them together make it one of the most famous cities of art in Italy. Those who enter the city, feel as if they are plunged into different era, in an ancient past of which Bologna still has many features.



Some of these features are the urban layout, the colours, monuments and palaces, the names of streets, the arcades, the old shops, the towers. Bologna shows a charming medieval aspect. the towers are a striking example of Middle Age still living in the present. You can admire tower the Tower of Asinelli and Garisenda, that dominate the town centre. Once a symbol of power, today they are an icon of the city, make it unique and mysterious.

In Bologna was born oldest university in Europe. Even today Bologna maintains a central cultural role.
The medieval period, as mentioned, is also reflected in the colours of the city ; in fact many walls and walls of buildings are characterized by a warm brick red colour that prevails throughout the old town centre (classified by UNESCO as the largest in the world ).

But they are also the red the roofs of Bologna, often so original for tourists, with the characteristic tiles (called “coppi”). Don’t lose to visit the wonderful Piazza Maggiore, heart of the town, the Basilica of San Petronio and the many beautiful Churches and historical buildings of which Bologna is rich.
