The Valley of the Temples in Agrigento: magical and enchanting among the flowering almond trees

Agrigento-temple-sicilyAgrigento is one of the beautiful and fascinating cities of the magnificent Sicily. The town is rich in history, culture, and beautiful monuments. But what attracts millions of tourists every year are its fabulous surroundings. This stretch of coast is full of beautiful seaside resorts, touched by a clear and blue sea. Near Agrigento there is also the spectacular Valley of the Temples , archaeological site of remarkable charm, internationally renowned.

The Valley of the Temples is one of the tourist attractions that have been included in UNESCO world heritage sites. On this sacred hill, so it is called, you can admire 7 impressive and elegant temples, arrived in good enough condition to this day. The Temples are decorated in a refined and linear Doric style. While walking to the discovery these architectural masterpieces, you will feel really small when you look up to the tall and towering columns that adorn these temples.

One of the major temples spared by the passage of time is the Temple of Concordia. Then let us remember the Temple of Eracle, the Temple of Juno, the Temple of the Dioscuri, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Temple of Vulcan and the Temple of Aesculapius. Walking through the temples, you will vividly live again  the glories of the classical Greece era. The evening visit to the Valley of the Temples is very attractive and charming, when they are so well illuminated by artificial light that they seem even more imposing.

We strongly recommend you to visit the Valley of the Temples, in the period from the 14th of February to the 21st  of February 2010, when here it takes place an event whose charm is almost magical and irresistible: the Festival of the flowering Almond tree. This year we celebrate the sixty-fifth edition. If you can attend this wonderful event, you will enjoy the ecstatic beauty of the valley of the Temples, adorned with white, ethereal, poetic and moving flowers of almond. Your eyes will see a truly breathtaking show that is also a kind of greeting to the approaching spring.
