Perhaps the most famous of all the historical markets in Palermo, is Vucciria (that in Palermo dialect means confusion). It is, however, even the oldest market of Palermo. The Vucciria is located in the heart of the old town centre of Palermo. Long time ago the market was protected by arcades, while today it is completely open.

They are in fact almost a summary of the colourful and cheerful nature and of the multifaceted and cosmopolitan culture of Palermo’s citizens. Taormina: an holiday between history and glamour
mercoledì, 28 ottobre 2009Taormina owes its modern fame largely to a German artist, the painter Von Geleng, who in 1800 brings Taormina to the fore in Europe, disconcerted the Parisian regular customers of an exhibition with paintings depicting unreal landscapes of snow-capped volcanoes with Greek ruins and stretches of almond trees in bloom. The story continues with the challenge by Otto Von Geleng to three critics to go to see personally these landscapes in Taormina.
