Lombardy: a Region rich in history and nature



Lombardy (Lombardia) is one of the most interesting regions of northern Italy. It offers beautiful cities, like Milan, the capital of the region, and smaller towns but no less interesting. In Lombardy there are also beautiful resorts that attract thousands of visitors every year thanks to the natural beauties and to the beautiful landscapes that this land offers.



Milan is a great starting point to discover Lombardy. Piazza Duomo is the ideal place to start exploring the city. On this wonderful Square there is one of the symbols of city, namely the Duomo of Milan (the Cathedral), topped with a statue of “Madunina” as the citizens of Milan call it . Don’t miss a visit to the Vittorio Emanuele Arcade, where there are many elegant shops and refined coffees.

Shopping lovers can do a wonderful walk in the famous Via Montenapoleone, where there are boutiques of the biggest national and international fashion brands. But in Lombardy you can also admire their delicate beauty, even the most intimate little towns, such as Como and Lecco. Near these two towns there is the charming and picturesque Como Lake.

Other wonderful towns are Mantua (Mantova) and Pavia, whose old town centre are breathtakingly beautiful, and you will discover them little by little in their picturesque views, through lovely walks. In Lombardy, there are also numerous internationally renowned spas as Miradolo Terme, Bormio and Desenzano Terme. Not less beautiful to be visited are the wonderful towns like Desenzano del Garda and Sirmione.

These two tourist resorts overlook Garda Lake, and each year they attract thousands of tourists. In all these towns there are many accommodation facilities ready to welcome visitors. In Lombardy there are also many ski resort, as Adamello and Ponte di Legno and Passo del Tonale, just to name a few, where you can practice the traditional winter sports.
